Come to the Mount Rainier food forest on May 7th for a morning of mushroom adventures! A group of local mycophiles will lead a workshop on growing shiitake, oyster and wine cap mushrooms on logs, straw and wood chips. Participants will be able to take a log or inoculated straw home with them. Local mushroom foraging enthusiasts and members of the Mycological Society of Washington will also talk about how to safely find mushrooms in the wild. This is a family-friendly event, and kids of all ages are welcome.
Where: Mount Rainier Food Forest, 31st St between Taylor and Upshur Streets
When: Saturday, May 7, 10 am to noon
Cost: $10 per person, payable at the time of the workshop via cash or Venmo (to cover materials and supplies)
What to bring: a water bottle, hat, sun glasses, eye protection, closed toed shoes and work gloves. Extra gloves and eye projection will be available.
